Oakbrook job market vs Atlanta

Curious what people think. With a population of 9,459, Oakbrook is a small town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I've lived in Midtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The traffic scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely better than expected and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Westside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much stable but now it's surprisingly good.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
