Housing market in Oakdale right now

Been meaning to ask this. Median household income is $86,478, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,471/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 6.1%, which is concerning. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Not enough green space
Thoughts? Appreciate any input. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Bought a house here in 2015 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
