Random thought, We have two kids and Household incomes average around $45,038 in Oakdale. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I work in healthcare here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Westside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The nightlife scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Midtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
