Considering Oakdale vs Houston -help me decide
First post here. Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $1,452 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,109 people. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.
