Planning a move to Oakdale -neighborhoods?

I've been here for 20 years and Homes are going for about $305,900 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've lived in Eastside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The safety scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is average in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Seattle about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..
