Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a college student here and It's a a mid-size city city with about 438K people. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? Any help is appreciated. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The walkability is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (East) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
