Housing market in Oakland — is it worth buying?
Median home value here is around $924,700. Prices are steep but there are pockets of affordability. For those renting, typical rent is $1917.
Is now a good time to buy in Oakland? Or better to keep renting?
Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Oakwood and Pine Grove are perfectly safe.

Respectfully disagree about the job market. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.
