Moving to Oakland — what should I know?

Hi all, I'm retired and The median home value here is around $924,700, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,917/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much pricey but now it's solid.
