Best neighborhoods in Oakton

Longtime lurker here, I'm a 34-year-old HR manager and Household incomes average around $163,662 in Oakton. Median household income is $163,662, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,776 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Oakton sits at 73.9 per 100K. Poverty rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Great weather
- Good schools
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Far from major airports
- Homelessness issues downtown
What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
