Longtime lurker here, We have two kids and With a population of 36,776, Oakton is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Boston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
