Longtime lurker here, We have two kids and Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,378/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I overthinking this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
