OK so The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $292,500 on average. Median household income is $103,125, which feels pretty solid for the area. Household incomes average around $103,125 in Oakville. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Fairview area are tough. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 9 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
