What surprised you most about Ocean Acres?

OK so Poverty rate is 0.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $359,200, which seems about average. Rent is about $2,240/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $359,200 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thanks in advance! Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 37, moved here 3 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Eastside and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The traffic situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The community vibe is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much growing but now it's average.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
