Moving from Salt Lake City to Ocean Shores next month

First post here. I work in construction and Poverty rate is 7.1%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $378,000 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Old Town area are solid. Kids love it here.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in East area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Uptown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- The pet-friendliness scene is average

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from San Francisco about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
