Best restaurants in Ocean Springs?

Been meaning to ask this. We're a young couple and The median home value here is around $235,100, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $78,929, which feels about average for the area. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What neighborhoods would you suggest? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely decent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Eastside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
- The food scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Diego about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
