Longtime lurker here, Average temperature is around 60°F, so the weather is moderate. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Has anyone dealt with this? TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to San Francisco it's pretty good.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The dating scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Westside for 2 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is tough - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Limited shopping options. And traffic can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
