Hey folks, Poverty rate is 4.5%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Eastside for 11 years. Moved from Nashville for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is decent - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Bugs and humidity in summer. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for work and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The nightlife is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Charlotte about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
