Pros and cons of Ocoee after 9 years
Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 6.9%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Ocoee sits at 313.4 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Close to nature
- Strong sense of community
- Plenty of shopping options
Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Lack of diversity
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
What do you all think? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
