Best kept secrets of Oconomowoc, WI

Hi all, I work in education and It's a a small town city with about 18,385 people. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 9 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
