Is Oconomowoc still affordable?

Hi all, I'm single, late 50s, and Household incomes average around $105,833 in Oconomowoc. Crime rate is something to consider -Oconomowoc sits at 76.6 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $105,833, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 18,385, Oconomowoc is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Lack of diversity
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
Am I wrong here? The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
