Most overrated things about Odessa

First post here. I'm a teacher here and Crime rate is something to consider -Odessa sits at 1,038.3 per 100K. It's a a mid-size city city with about 114K people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Worth the trade-offs?

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
