Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Uptown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for work and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The traffic is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 5 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The housing market is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is tough in most areas.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much affordable but now it's improving.
