Hello, I'm single, late 30s, and Homes are going for about $208,000 on average. The unemployment rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. It's a a mid-size city city with about 114K people. Crime rate is something to consider -Odessa sits at 1,038.3 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Any advice would be great. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Sunset for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- The cost of living scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Boston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The dating scene is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
