Moving to O'Fallon -what should I know?

Hey, I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $274,100 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 32,139 people. Rent is about $1,312/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $102,793 in O'Fallon. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Charlotte about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.
