Affordable areas near O'Fallon?

Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and It's a a smaller city city with about 92,697 people. Crime rate is something to consider -O'Fallon sits at 127.2 per 100K. Rent is about $1,400/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,400 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Midtown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.
