Is O'Fallon getting better or worse?

Hey everyone, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $305,100, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $107,203, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,400/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Great weather
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Low taxes

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in Downtown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..
