I'm single, late 20s, and Crime rate is something to consider -O'Fallon sits at 127.2 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,400 for rent here. Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 92,697 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
