Thinking about relocating to O'Fallon from Charlotte
Hey everyone, I relocated for work and Rent is about $1,400/month for a decent place. With a population of 92,697, O'Fallon is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -O'Fallon sits at 127.2 per 100K. Household incomes average around $107,203 in O'Fallon. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (East) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in finance. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
