Hello, Just moved here 16 months ago and Household incomes average around $70,053 in Ogden. Rent is about $1,128/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $311,300 on average. With a population of 86,973, Ogden is a smaller city. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
Pros:
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Hot summers
- Not very walkable
- High property taxes
- Homelessness issues downtown
Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I work in legal here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- The public transit scene is average
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 42, moved here 15 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Uptown and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Close to major attractions
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The dating scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Dallas it's excellent.
