What surprised you most about Ogden?

First post here. Household incomes average around $70,053 in Ogden. Crime rate is something to consider -Ogden sits at 437.0 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Is this normal for Ogden?

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 48, moved here 6 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in West and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The weather situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 4 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in East for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- The food scene scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
