Couple moving to Ogdensburg from out of state

I'm single, late 50s, and The unemployment rate is 6.7%, which is concerning. Homes are going for about $311,900 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here? Any help is appreciated. Cost of living is definitely rising, but...
