Anyone work in healthcare in Oklahoma City?

Longtime lurker here, Just moved here 14 months ago and Rent is about $1,083/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $66,702 in Oklahoma City. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Does this match your experience? Thanks! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 26, moved here 10 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Pine Hills and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Can feel isolated
3. The cultural scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Tampa about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is average.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
