I'm single, late 50s, and Household incomes average around $66,702 in Oklahoma City. You can expect to pay around $1,083 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Worth the trade-offs? Cheers. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Came here for school and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The cost of living is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much stable but now it's challenging.
