First time home buyer in Olathe

Curious what people think. I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $1,314/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Is this normal for Olathe? The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 14 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..
