Olathe job market vs Denver

So, Been living here since 2014. Average temperature is around 57°F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $112,232, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider — Olathe sits at 205.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Thoughts? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The cultural scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 25, moved here 2 years ago from Denver. I've lived in North and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Can feel isolated
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for remote workers. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for school and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The food scene is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.
