Old Brookville quality of life -am I missing something?

Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. It's a a small town city with about 2,008 people. Rent is about $2,408/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Any help is appreciated. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Moved here from Dallas about 5 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to cultural scene but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Houston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..
