Alright, The median home value here is around $1,255,700, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $250,001 in Old Hill. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 3,078, Old Hill is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The food scene is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2015 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 4 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Dallas about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Midtown for 8 years. Moved from Portland for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is tough - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Far from beaches/mountains. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
