Is Old Jefferson getting better or worse?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $1,174/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Is this normal for Old Jefferson?

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in North for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is decent

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 15 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
