Best hidden gems in Oldsmar

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm single, late 50s, and Homes are going for about $346,900 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Oldsmar sits at 113.4 per 100K. Poverty rate is 8.7%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Hot summers
- Rising rent prices
- Sprawl everywhere
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Miami it's hit or miss.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Phoenix it's decent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 54, moved here 9 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in West and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The healthcare situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I work in retail here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the North side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Riverside area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Midtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
