Couple moving to Olean from out of state

OK so Been living here since 2024. The median home value here is around $90,500, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 13,798, Olean is a small town. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What neighborhoods would you suggest? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.
