So, I'm a remote worker and Household incomes average around $57,997 in Olney. Homes are going for about $96,900 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 11 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much affordable but now it's tough.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to San Francisco it's excellent.
