Curious what people think. Military spouse here. It's a a small town city with about 8,864 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Chicago about 11 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much pricey but now it's excellent.
