Raising a family in Omaha — thoughts?

It's a a mid-size city city with about 488K people. Average temperature is around 54°F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider — Omaha sits at 612.8 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.
