Worst things about living in Omaha

Look, I love Omaha, but let's be real about the downsides:

Summer heat is intense
Job market is niche
Crime in certain neighborhoods is a real concern

Don't get me wrong, it's still a great place overall. But people should know what they're getting into.

I've lived in Midtown for 3 years and it's a hidden gem honestly.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Don't sleep on Midtown. It's up and coming and still affordable.

If you can afford it, University District is the best place to live. Period.

I've lived in Old Town for 15 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

As someone who moved here from Seattle, I can confirm most of this. The job opportunities surprised me the most.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Maple Heights. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Cedar Hills and Old Town are perfectly safe.
