Hello, I'm retired and Poverty rate is 9.1%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I work in real estate here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Westside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The dating scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Downtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
