Rent vs buy in Oneida -what makes sense?

Been meaning to ask this. My partner and I are With a population of 10,240, Oneida is a small town. Median household income is $60,380, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $841/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Oneida sits at 377.4 per 100K. Household incomes average around $60,380 in Oneida. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene
- Close to nature
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- High property taxes
- Homelessness issues downtown
TIA! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.
