Rent prices in Ontario getting crazy

Anyone else noticing rent going up fast in Ontario? Over the last year, I feel like prices went up at least 10-15%. I'm paying $1916 for a 2BR/2BA which feels like a lot.

Are there any neighborhoods that are still affordable? Thinking about moving to a cheaper area.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!

Rent tip: look for places in October-November. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Lakewood. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Moved here last year. No regrets. Great value for the money.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 8/10.
