Not sure if this has been asked before, but Just moved here 13 months ago and The median home value here is around $217,500, which is actually reasonable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Eastside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Affordable housing options
- The outdoor recreation scene is tough
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
