Couple moving to Opelika from out of state

Hey, I'm a 52-year-old pharmacist and Median household income is $58,763, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $947 for rent here. Household incomes average around $58,763 in Opelika. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Mediterranean places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Highland for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The safety scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
