Moving from Nashville to Opelika next month

Hey everyone, Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Appreciate any input. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to San Francisco it's improving.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (West) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
